Nutmeg: A Natural Remedy For Insomnia

Nutmeg, which comes from the seed of the Myristica fragrans tree, flavors many dishes, both savory and sweet, in cuisine across the globe. It is often used in desserts and curries, as well as drinks like mulled wine and chai tea.

Aside from these, nutmeg can also be paired with other spices, such as cardamom, cinnamon, and cloves. We can sprinkle some of it onto butternut squash, and pumpkin to create a deep, interesting flavor. It can also be added to savory, meat-based dishes, such as pork chops and lamb curry. When it comes to beverages, simply add a dash of nutmeg in chai tea, hot chocolate, apple cider, turmeric lattes, and smoothies.

An antioxidant-rich food. It is loaded with antioxidants, including plant pigments like cyanidins, phenolic compounds, including protocatechuic, ferulic, and caffeic acids, and essential oils, such as phenylpropanoids and terpenes (4).
