Neem Oil: A Potential Remedy For Eczema

Neem tree has been used for many years as a medicinal herb. Its leaves and the oil extracted from neem seed are widely used for treating a range of skin ailments. They can be effective at clearing out infection as well as rejuvenating the skin and making it glow.

Neem oil, in particular, is loaded with flavonoid derivatives, tannins, and other lipids that play a significant role in calming dry and irritated skin. It has anti-inflammatory properties that may help heal both chronic and acute inflammation. Its antibacterial properties are very useful in treating bacterial infection caused by Staphylococcus aureus, the same bacteria that causes eczema. Being an excellent analgesic, neem oil may also reduce pain caused by soreness and wounds and foster quick healing.

How We Can Use Neem Oil In Managing Symptoms Of Eczema?

Eczema is a condition that causes inflamed, itchy, cracked, and rough skin. Symptoms of this chronic condition can possibly be managed with neem oil. Having three anti-inflammatory compounds (nimbidin, nimbin, and quercetin), neem oil may help soothe the skin and reduce eczema-caused redness, swelling, and irritation.  It moisturizes severely dry skin, is anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, and a natural pain killer, basically everything we need for natural eczema treatment.

Neem And Coconut Oil

In addition to its antibacterial and antifungal properties, coconut oil can penetrate deeply into the skin and keep it moisturized. The combination of neem and coconut oil can be a potent remedy in reducing symptoms of eczema.

Mix 1 tablespoon of unrefined coconut oil and 3-4 drops neem oil and then apply it to the affected area. Leave it on overnight and wash it off the next day. Repeat until the inflammation is gone.

Neem And Raw Papaya

These two ingredients have anti-inflammatory properties that help in soothing the symptoms of eczema. Neem oil helps in clearing the infection and inflammation while raw papaya helps reduce itching and redness.

This remedy will require us to create a paste by mixing 1 tablespoon of raw papaya pulp and 3-4 drops of neem oil. Apply it to the affected area and leave it on for at least 20 minutes. Wash off and repeat until desired results are obtained.

Neem, Turmeric, And Honey

Turmeric also possesses antibacterial and antifungal properties. Along with neem, this yellow spice may help reduce itching while honey will moisturize the skin thus reducing symptoms of eczema.

Simply combine 1 tablespoon neem powder, 1 teaspoon turmeric powder, 3-4 drops neem oil, and 1 teaspoon of raw honey. Apply the mixture to the problem area and let it dry for 20 minutes before washing it off. Repeat the process until symptoms are reduced.
