Salt Water Gargling
When it comes to soothing a sore throat and pain caused by tonsillitis, gargling, and rinsing with warm salt water can be a big help. Doing this can help lower down levels of inflammation and treat infections.
For this remedy, we simply need to stir about ½ teaspoon of salt in about 4 ounces of warm water. Stir well until salt is dissolved. Gargle with the saltwater for a few seconds before spitting it out. Rinse with regular water. Repeat the process as often as necessary but avoid swallowing the mixture.
Warm Tea With Raw Honey
Drinking warm beverages like tea can help in reducing discomfort associated with tonsillitis. Raw honey, when added in a cup of warm tea, may help treat infections that cause tonsillitis.
The benefits of this remedy can also be strengthened with other teas like ginger tea which has strong anti-inflammatory effects as well as fennel tea which can help to reduce inflammation and discomfort.
Cinnamon
Cinnamon is rich in antimicrobial properties that represses the growth of bacteria and other micro-organisms in the tonsils and also helps reduce swelling, pain, and inflammation.
To make this effective remedy, we need to add one teaspoon of cinnamon powder to a glass of hot water and mix in two teaspoons of honey. Consume it while it’s still warm. Drink the remedy two or three times a day for one week.
Tulsi
Tulsi, or Holy Basil, has antiviral and anti-inflammatory properties that make it an exceptionally viable home remedy for tonsillitis. Moreover, it also possesses healing and soothing qualities which can help reduce swelling and pain as well as speed up the healing process.
Simply add 10 to 12 basil leaves to one and one-half cups of water and boil for 10 minutes. Add the juice from 1 lemon and a teaspoon of honey to sweeten it or 2 grams of black pepper to spice it up. Consume the drink 3 times a day for 2 to 3 days.
