Different Ways To Whiten Teeth Using Baking Soda

Due to its whitening properties, baking soda has become a popular component of many toothpaste products. This common household ingredient can help scrub away surface stains on teeth and creates an alkaline environment in the mouth, which prevents bacteria from growing.

In a study, researchers found that toothpaste containing baking soda is more effective at removing yellow stains from teeth than standard toothpaste without baking soda.

Here are some of the easy ways of how we can use baking soda to whiten our teeth.

Baking Soda And Coconut Oil

Coconut oil has anti-plaque properties that help in getting rid of plaque build-up that makes our teeth dull and yellowish. It also contains medium-chain fatty acids that have antimicrobial properties, which are effective in getting rid of oral microbes.

Create a paste by mixing 1 tablespoon each of coconut oil and baking soda. Use this paste to brush the teeth gently for at least 2 minutes. Do this 2-3 times a week.

Baking Soda And Water

In a small cup, mix ¼ to ½ teaspoon of baking soda with enough water to form a paste. Brush the teeth with the baking soda paste for 1 to 2 minutes using circular motions. Brush all around instead of scrubbing 1 spot for the entire 2 minutes. After brushing for 2 minutes, spit out the baking soda and rinse the mouth with water or mouthwash. Repeat this every other day for up to 2 weeks.

Baking Soda And Salt

Salt is a natural antiseptic and has antibacterial properties. It acts as a mild abrasive, can help eliminate oral microbes and plaque, and removes stains from our teeth.

Simply mix 1 and 1/2 teaspoons of baking soda and 1/2 teaspoon of rock salt. Take a little of this mixture on the finger and rub it all over the teeth. Allow it to work on the teeth for 2-3 minutes and then rinse the mouth with water. Do this for at least thrice a week.
