Kitchen-Ready Ingredients That May Help Treat Cracked Heels

It’s painful and irritable to have cracked heels and dry feet. Due to this, we often hide our feet in stuffy shoes due to the physical embarrassment of this condition. Luckily, there are some kitchen-ready ingredients that may help us with this problem. Check them out below.

Lemons

Lemon is slightly acidic and this can help take off the dead skin. Add lemon juice to warm water (water should not be very hot) and soak the feet in it for 10-15 minutes. Once the heels have softened, scrub it with a pumice stone to exfoliate the rough surface. Rinse out feet and pat dry with a towel.

Honey

Aside from its antibacterial properties, honey is also a well-known moisturizer and can help heal and cleanse wounds. Due to this, this sweet, viscous food ingredient can be an excellent salve in the treatment of cracked heels.

Add one cup of honey to half bucket of warm water and soak the feet for about 15-20 minutes. Scrub gently to reveal softer feet.

Coconut Oil

Since dry skin is the primary cause of cracked heels, moisturizing is one of the best ways of healing them. Rub on some coconut oil on the feet before bed and cover it with socks to retain the moisture. And voila, wake up to soft and supple feet!

Baking Soda

The inflammatory properties of baking soda make it an excellent ingredient for removing dead skin cells and revitalizing the skin.

Fill a bucket of warm water 2/3 of the way. Pour 3 tablespoons of baking soda into the bucket and mix until the baking soda dissolves completely. Soak the feet for 15 minutes Remove the feet from the water and scrub with the pumice stone. Rinse the feet with clean water. Do this twice a week.

Banana And Avocado

Banana and avocado are both rich in vitamin B6 which has been shown to treat many forms of dermatitis and skin conditions – great news for dry and tired feet. What’ s more? The potassium in bananas and oleic acid makes for a great combination to fix dry skin. Applying a foot mask made of these two ingredients can help soften and moisturize heels and dry skin.

This remedy will require us to blend 1 ripe banana and ½ an avocado. Apply the paste to heels and feet (paying special attention to cracked areas). After 20 minutes, rinse off the mask with lukewarm water and gently pat dry with a towel.

Banana Pulp

Simply take the pulp of a banana and apply it on the cracked feet. Leave the pulp for 15 minutes and then rinse off.
