Lagundi for Pain Relief, Cough and Rheumatism

Lagundi or with Vitex Negundo as its Scientific name is a native shrub found in swamps in the Philippines. It grows up to 8 meters high and contains a thick and woody stem-like trunk with palmately-like leaves, consisting of 3-5 pointed leaves.

Lagundi flowers are lavender to blue. Also, they are found in Iran, eastern Africa, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, China, Burma, Indo-China, Thailand, Japan, in the entire Malesian region, and are also cultivated in Asia, Europe, North America, and West Indies.

Lagundi has been used as herbal medicine in the Philippines, which was backed up by the Department of Health and some Philippine-based scientists who have conducted studies about its effectivity as a treatment for respiratory ailments. In general, lagundi is taken for the treatment of asthma, coughs and other respiratory concerns.

1. Pain Relief

Lagundi has been known to be quite effective as a pain reliever because of its analgesic properties and has been compared to drugs like aspirin in trials.
