Ginger Tea with Honey and Lemon
For this easy remedy we need the following:
- Grated ginger
- A tablespoon of honey
- A tablespoon of lemon juice
- A cup of water
Preparation:
Boil a cup of water and add ginger. Let it steep for three minutes and then add honey and lemon juice. Strain the tea to separate grated pieces of ginger. Stir well and enjoy its goodness!
Aside from honey and lemon, we can also add the following to our ginger tea:
- A pinch of cayenne pepper before steeping the tea.
- Half a teaspoon of ground cinnamon which has antiseptic properties that can fight off the cold virus
- One crushed garlic for immunity
Ginger Ale
This great recipe will require us to gather the following:
- 6 cm ginger root peeled and grated
- 500 ml / 2 cups water
- Juice from one grapefruit or lemon
- mint leaves
- Honey to taste
Preparation:
Place grated ginger in a muslin or cheesecloth and squeeze until you have around 1 tbsp of liquid ginger juice. Mix ginger juice, lemon or grapefruit juice, and water in a jug. Stir in some honey to taste and add mint. Enjoy its great taste.
Turmeric Ginger Tea
The combination of ginger and turmeric is one of the most powerful remedies we can have when it comes to battling cough and colds.
Ingredients needed:
- 1-inch fresh ginger
- 1-inch fresh turmeric or 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
- 1/2 lemon
- 1 cup of filtered water
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- 1 teaspoon raw honey
Preparation:
Bring the water a boil and let it cool down into a mug. Meantime, chop fresh ginger and turmeric into thin slices. Squeeze the juice of 1/2 a lemon into a mug and add in all the other ingredients. Let it steep for 5 minutes, remove the ginger and turmeric slices and enjoy.
