High levels of lauric acid are present in virgin coconut oil. Once consumed, this acid is converted into monolaurin which stimulates the metabolism and helps in better absorption of iodine found in the foods we eat. Also, due to its anti-inflammatory properties, coconut oil can help lower down thyroid swelling. Use coconut oil when cooking or add it to hot drinks and smoothies.

Turmeric

For this remedy, we need to heat a cup of water in a pan and add 1/2 cup of turmeric powder in it.
