Kamias, which is a Filipino name for sour fruit plant, originated from Southeast Asia region. It can also be found in countries such as Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, and Myanmar. In every country, kamias has their own name. In Indonesia it is called as Belimbing Wuluh, in Malaysia, they call it Belimbing Buloh, and in other Asian countries, it is known as Talina ping. In such countries in Europe, this fruit is commonly known as tree cucumber.
In Southeast Asia, kamias is often used as a food source or traditional medicine for some kind of disease. It contains a lot of vitamin B, vitamin C, phosphorus, iron, and antioxidants. It also has a high nutritional value that is needed by a human, that is why, apart from consuming it as a food source, kamias can also be used as a medicinal alternative.
Natural Treatment For Diabetics
Substances found in kamias are beneficial for diabetics. Its saponins extract and flavonoid compounds help increase the insulin produced by the pancreas and also restore the damaged pancreatic cells. It also has tannins that help lower blood sugar levels of the body. Plus, the fruit can also prevent bone loss due to its calcium oxalate content.
People suffering from diabetes are at risk of heart attack, bone loss, obesity, kidney failure, and liver disorder.
Prepare and wash 4-5 pieces of kamias. Blend it and mix with 1 glass of water. After that, boil the mixture until it leaves you only half a glass of water. Strain the boiled water and let it cool. Kamias can be a good medicine for a cough relief. Just blend the fruit and add 2 tablespoons of salt or depending on your taste. Strain the juice and your kamias drink is ready to consume. Drink this around the first half in the morning, before you have breakfast and another half in the evening.
With the help of kamias, you can provide a cure for your toothache. It has substances that can help against bacteria and good toothache treatment.
Just eat some kamias during a toothache or you may blend some of it and apply on the painful tooth. It will help lessen pain. You can also pound it and place it on the sick and hollow teeth in order to prevent the spread of bacteria.
Kamias can help prevent and relieve the pain caused by rheumatism. Take some kamias fruit along with the leaves. Wash it in water and blend until smooth. Rub the mixture on the affected area. Do this repeatedly until the pain is gone and you feel better.
