DIY Chocolate Face Mask for All Skin Types

A great and natural way for maintaining radiant and younger-looking skin is by using a luscious and tempting chocolate face mask.

Cocoa is excellent for the skin. It provides strong antioxidant benefits that fight free radicals – one of the causes of premature aging. Flavanols found in cocoa help improve hydration and skin texture. Additionally, its mineral content can promote tissue repair and cell growth.

This mask includes honey, oatmeal, and yogurt.

Honey is an excellent choice for any skin care recipe. It contains antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties that protect and soothe acne-prone skin. Honey can also retain moisture and promote a glowing complexion.

Another ingredient that can promote smooth and soft skin is oatmeal. It cleans the pores by absorbing excess oil from the skin and help maintain the pH of the skin. Due to its saponins, oatmeal works as an exfoliant to remove acne-causing bacteria and dead skin cells.

Yogurt has anti-aging and moisturizing properties that help smooth rough skin and add a youthful glow. Aside from this, it also contains lactic acid that reduces skin blemishes, gently exfoliates the skin, heals suntanned skin, and tightens the pores.

How to Make a DIY Homemade Chocolate Face Mask

Things you will need:

    Unsweetened cocoa powder
Plain yogurt (or cream if not available)
    Measuring spoons
    A mixing spoon
    A bowl

1. Put 1 tablespoon of unsweetened cocoa powder in a bowl.
2. Add 2 tablespoons of plain yogurt.
3. Add 1 tablespoon of powdered oatmeal.
4. Mix in 1 teaspoon of honey.

How to use:

  1. Wash your face and neck and slather the chocolate face mask.
  2. Leave it on for 15 to 20 minutes.
  3. Use a moist paper towel or soft washcloth in removing the mask.
  4. Rinse your face with lukewarm water and pat dry.
  5. Repeat once or twice a week.

Use raw honey.

Do not confuse cocoa powder with chocolate milk mix or hot cocoa mix, which have added sugar and less cocoa content.

Make powdered oatmeal by grinding the oatmeal in a coffee grinder or blender. Or, simply use oat flour.

If you have dry skin, add a little olive oil for extra moisture.

Replace yogurt with milk cream if you have sensitive skin.

Eating dark chocolate in moderation can also provide your skin with benefits. According to research, flavonol-rich dark chocolate or chocolate drinks can help protect your skin from harmful ultraviolet rays.
