Strengthening the immune system is one of the best things we can do. Get plenty of rest, eat balanced meals, get plenty of exercise, wash hands often, and get some fresh air – these are just some of the tips we need to follow to keep our body healthy and protect our family.

In addition to this, we can try some do-it-yourself immune boosting drinks to help keep our immune system healthy and strong.

Ginger Tea Tonic

Ginger is one of the oldest medicinal foods on the planet. Its therapeutic properties come from gingerols. It high in antioxidants and various nutrients that help to boost the immune system and fight harmful free-radicals and viruses like fevers, sore throats, and an upset stomach.

Chop up about an inch thick of fresh, peeled ginger. Let the ginger steep in a cup of warm to hot (not boiling) filtered water for 2 minutes. Squeeze in the juice from half of a lemon (Vitamin C!) and add in a tablespoon of raw, unfiltered (with the ‘mother’) Apple Cider Vinegar (also known to rid the body of nasty bugs). Sweeten (if needed) with raw honey and splash in a dash of Cayenne Pepper (increases blood circulation!). Consume a cup of this every morning.

Garlic And Honey On The Go

Raw garlic is a powerful immune booster and is used worldwide to cure everything from colds to cancer. Its active compound known as allicin has anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, anti-carcinogenic and antioxidant properties.  On the other hand, raw honey is loaded with essential vitamins, enzymes and nutrients as well as anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and anti-viral properties–killer ingredients in fighting off the flu and colds. The combination of these two can provide an all-natural, powerful ‘drug’ to ward off infections and boost your immune system.

Peel and separate a clove of garlic and then cut, mince, chop, press or slice it into smaller pieces. Let the garlic rest for 10-15 minutes to allow the enzymes to activate. Spoon 1/2 tablespoon of raw honey onto a spoon and sprinkle the entire chopped up clove of garlic onto the honey spoon. Consume and swallow it. Repeat this every 2-3 hour throughout the day.
