Tips To Boost Our Mood If We Are Feeling Low

There were times wherein we wake up feeling low or tired. It may be because of our busy schedule, multiple responsibilities, and stress that we need to take care of. Luckily, there are a few simple lifestyle changes that we can make to make us feel happier and more relaxed.

Exercise

A regular exercise naturally boosts mood. It helps release endorphins, the feel-good chemicals in our brain. Simply taking a five to 10-minute walk or engage in some other type of activity (run or bicycle hard for 30 seconds and then walk for a minute and do it again) can help in pumping blood and rising our mood.

Meditate

Meditating has amazing effects on a person’s mood. Doing this even if it’s for just five minutes, can help reduce our stress levels and improve our outlook in life. Look for a quiet place, breath, and clear the mind to go inward and reflect while finding peace and reaffirming our purpose in life.

Get Enough Sleep

A single night’s sleep, or even a nice nap, can make a world of difference to the way we feel. It is recommended to have eight hours of sleep every night to feel rested and boost our mood.

Limit Caffeine Intake

As much as possible, avoid drinking coffee, soda, or energy drinks. They give our body the adrenaline that can affect our mood thus resulting in some drastic effects, especially when we are feeling low or stressed.

Appeal To The Scents

Our sense of smell is integrally connected to our mood and memory. We can try infusing our favorite scents in our place to help us feel more relaxed. Some of the must-try scents include citrus, lavender, chamomile, peppermint, vanilla, and jasmine.

Eat Nutritious Foods

Consume foods rich in proteins, healthy fats, and complex carbs. They can help create hormones and neurotransmitters for the production of the feel-good hormone known as serotonin.

Leafy green vegetables are particularly filled with nutrients that can impact our mood–potassium, magnesium, and a host of trace minerals.

Drink More Water

Studies have shown that drinking lots of water can help boost our mood and alter our emotions. It’s better if we keep a bottle of water at our side at all times and drink every half hour or hour during the day.
