Canker Sores And Its Home Remedies

Canker sores are oral lesions that sting inside the mouth. This can be painful and can make a person difficult to eat or talk. It may be caused by a number of different factors including a minor injury in the mouth, food sensitivities, bacteria, emotional stress, nutrient deficiencies, shifting hormone levels, and medical conditions.

Tea Bags

Tea is alkaline and full of healthful tannins as well as astringent compounds that may all help relieve pain. Hold a damp tea bag over the canker sore for five minutes.  Cool the tea bag for even more relief.

Alum Powder

Alum powder has astringent properties that can help shrink tissues and dry out canker sores.
This remedy will require us to create a paste by mixing a tiny amount of alum powder with a drop of water and then dab the paste onto a canker sore. Leave it on for at least 1 minute and rinse the mouth thoroughly. For best results, repeat daily until the canker sore is gone.

Aloe Vera

The use of aloe vera may help reduce the pain caused by canker sores and speed up the healing process. Dry the ulcer with a cotton bud and apply the gel on it using a cotton bud. Also, drinking aloe vera juice is recommended. Repeat as needed.

Chamomile

Aside from soothing a sour stomach, chamomile tea can also calm canker sores. It contains chamazulene, a natural anti-inflammatory agent, which will help accelerate the healing process. Simply allow the tea to cool, and then swish it around the mouth for a minute.

Baking Soda Rinse

Baking soda works by reducing inflammation and restoring pH balance thus healing canker sores.
For this, we simply need to dissolve 1 teaspoon of baking soda in 1/2 cup of water and then swirl the solution in the mouth for 15 to 30 seconds and spit it out. Repeat every few hours as needed.

Honey

Research has shown that it may reduce the pain and size of canker sores when applied a few times each day. Aside from this, honey will also help prevent secondary infection.

Coconut Oil

The antimicrobial abilities of coconut oil may help treat canker sores caused by bacteria and prevent them from spreading. It also has anti-inflammatory properties that may help reduce pain and redness.
For best results, apply the generous amount of coconut oil to the sore several times a day until it is gone.
